We are seeking an Analyst to join the Liberty Media Corporate Development team.
Liberty Media, located in the Meridian office park area in south Denver, is a dynamic organization that owns a broad range of electronic retailing, media, communications, and entertainment businesses and investments. The Internet, digital content, and new devices are transforming the traditional media businesses. In response, we are rapidly adding interactive media businesses to our large portfolio of media, interactive, and eCommerce investments and businesses. Liberty Media makes large and small investments in the online gaming, eCommerce, TV programming and mobile telephony industries. We believe that we can add value to these companies by capitalizing on synergies among our more traditional media assets in television programming, TV home shopping, and media distribution. The person we hire should be able to generate ideas, identify innovations and innovators in the consumer internet industry, develop reasoned and articulated recommendations to help us reach our business objectives, and provide analytical support and valuation modeling.
Job Description
The role of the Analyst is to provide, under the supervision of the senior executives in the Corporate Development department, insights and assessments relating to opportunities in the consumer internet industry that Liberty Media should pursue financially or operationally. The analyst will assist in identifying opportunities through observation and exploration will generate well-articulated conclusions and recommendations, and will provide valuation, analytical and transaction support to the Corporate Development team as needed. The successful candidate will prepare presentations on potential investment opportunities, and will also conduct industry research and assist in the negotiations of certain transactions.
Skills/Qualifications
Essential skills/qualifications include:
- Highly internet/web-savvy and early adopter of Internet-based services (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, Mint, etc).
- Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking including the ability to understand and adjust business plans and develop projections in fast growing markets.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with others.
- Demonstrated project management capabilities, including self-directedness and initiative.
- Excellent research capabilities and demonstrated ability to synthesize and summarize industry research.
- Ability to conduct rigorous financial modeling and analysis. Significant experience with Excel a plus.
- Must have record of success and top-tier achievement in prior work and education experiences.
- Bachelor's Degree from top-tier university/college. Applicant will have some experience in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or an equivalent field through either a major or extracurricular/internship experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two or more years of relevant work experience in a related field/setting (i.e. investment banking, consulting, business development, etc).
- Familiarity and prior experience with media industry, online gaming, ecommerce, mobile, and technology marketplace a plus.
